How Justuno Increased Capture.com's List Growth By +638%
Facing challenges collecting new email and SMS subscribers to convert with a high-performing Welcome Series flow, Capture.com partnered with Groove Commerce to revamp their lead-generation strategy. With their current setup underperforming, Capture.com needed a more effective approach to engage visitors, boost sign-ups, and increase revenue attributed to Klaviyo Flows.
Challenge: Insufficient New Subscribers for The Welcome Series Flow
Lead Generation & The Welcome Series Flow
Capture.com’s highest-converting flow, the Welcome Series, was struggling to produce results due to insufficient new subscribers.
Despite the proven success of the flow itself, the challenge was attracting fresh email addresses to enter it. Their existing promotional strategies didn’t effectively incentivize sign-ups, limiting the pool of potential customers engaging with this crucial flow.
Promotional Strategy
The promotional offers on Capture.com were not staggered or compelling enough to drive conversions. The website ran a consistent 40%-off site-wide code, which, over time, lost its impact.
Compounding the issue, new subscribers were offered just 30% off through the welcome email series—making the flow-powered conversion funnel less appealing than the always-on promotion.
Popup Timing & Targeting
The site's welcome popup had limited functionality, relying solely on time-based triggers with no targeting or exit-intent strategy.
This lack of sophistication prevented Capture.com from engaging visitors more effectively and tailoring offers to their behavior, further stifling lead generation efforts.
SMS Marketing
Capture.com sought to expand into SMS marketing with Klaviyo, but the lack of any real collection process for SMS opt-ins made the program defunct from the start.
Without a clear, efficient way to gather consent and follow compliance regulations such as GDPR, their SMS program struggled to gain traction.
Solution: Implemented Dynamic, Time-Based Promotional Strategies to Drive Sign-Ups
To address the challenge of low email and SMS subscriber acquisition, Groove Commerce assisted Capture.com in transitioning from Klaviyo’s basic popup functionality to Justuno. This switch provided more robust targeting, design flexibility, and advanced logic options.
With this new tool, the Groove team started from scratch, creating fresh, on-brand creative assets to better engage users and capture more leads.
To solve the issue of stagnant promotions, the Groove team implemented a more dynamic promotional strategy.
Rather than running an always-on discount, the site now uses a time-based form that prompts visitors to sign up in exchange for a discount code sent directly to their email.
Recognizing the need to grow both email and SMS subscribers, Capture.com adopted a two-step form process recommended by the Groove team. This allowed users to first submit their email, followed by an optional SMS opt-in.
Even if a user chose not to provide their phone number, their email was still captured. The process complied with GDPR and other SMS regulations, ensuring a smooth user experience with tap-to-text consent, making it easy for subscribers to opt in via SMS by replying with "Y."
The new popup strategy incorporates a highly customized, user-friendly experience. If a visitor dismisses the full-screen popup, it minimizes into a sticky element at the bottom corner of the page, complete with a countdown clock to increase urgency. Dismissing the sticky reduces it further into a minimized tab, while clicking it re-opens the full-screen form.
Additionally, an exit-intent popup was introduced, triggering when users’ mouse movements indicate they’re about to leave the page. This popup provides the same offer, giving a final opportunity to capture the user’s email and SMS information before they leave.
The Results
With the new lead-generation strategy in place using Justuno, Capture.com began to see a significant improvement in key performance metrics in only two weeks. The optimized email and SMS collection, paired with targeted promotional offers, drove notable increases in subscriber growth and Klaviyo flow-attributed revenue.
Excited by these early results, Capture.com is positioned for continued growth with its enhanced approach - led by Groove Commerce.
